About Cable Chains
Cable chains use repeating oval or round links and appear in fine pendant-ready widths as well as more visible designs. Start with finished length and millimeter width, then compare link proportions, diamond-cut or polished finish, and whether an extender is included. Two cable chains that share a length can differ substantially in visual weight and end-piece size. For pendant use, compare the clasp and end cap with the pendant bail rather than assuming every fine chain will pass through.
Review the selected variant for metal and fineness, length, width, finish or plating, clasp, extender, construction, and listed weight. Diamond-cut refers to faceted metal surfaces and does not indicate diamonds unless stones are stated separately. Spring-ring and lobster clasps differ in size and operation, which may affect pendant compatibility and ease of use. Store the chain closed and separated to reduce tangling, and avoid pulling knots tight. Inspect links and clasp before wear. The Jewelry Care Guide covers general cleaning and storage considerations for chains and finishes.
