About Chain Necklaces

Chain necklaces are defined by their link construction, finished length, width, and whether decorative stations or multiple strands are part of the design. Cable, rope, rolo, spiga, curb, box, and other links create different textures and levels of visual presence. Start with where the necklace should rest, then use millimeter width to compare scale. A chain intended to carry a pendant also needs an end piece and clasp that can pass through the pendant bail; width alone does not prove compatibility.

Verify the exact variant's metal and fineness, solid or stated construction, finish or plating, length, width, clasp, and extender where provided. Similar product photography may represent more than one size, so rely on the selected measurements and listed weight instead of another variant's image. Multi-strand necklaces should be checked for the length of each strand and how they connect at the clasp. Store chains fastened and separated to reduce knots and abrasion. See the Jewelry Care Guide for general cleaning and storage guidance.
